Victor Mee Auctions offers the ‘cream of the crop’ in antique interiors in its upcoming September Decorative Interiors Sale
Victor Mee Auctions has announced its latest offering of antique treasures to go under the hammer in the September Decorative Interiors Sale which is set to take place online on Sunday 20th September 2020. Opting to keep its doors closed to in-house bidders due to the restrictions of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Cavan-based auction house will continue with its online auction model for the September Decorative Interiors Sale.
The upcoming September Decorative Interiors Sale will showcase a host of beautiful one-of-a-kind interior pieces and home furnishings, ensuring something unique for all tastes and budgets. Decorative Interior Sales have become some of the most anticipated events in Victor Mee Auctions’ repertoire. Predicting the market and keeping a keen eye on bespoke and striking pieces is a well-established skill of auctioneer Victor Mee and his talented son Bryan who, together, cherry pick and coordinate their exquisite finds into a fantastic, enticing catalogue of matchless home interiors and furnishings.
Commenting on the upcoming September Decorative Interiors Sale, auctioneer Victor Mee said “Interiors auctions are one of our biggest draws, as we experience a new wave of bidders who are looking to design their homes with the kind of flair and quality that can only be found in antique pieces. We take great pride in sourcing unique items to put forward in our sales, standing behind every interior lot that goes under the hammer and we’re certainly very excited to once again offer our bidders the cream of the crop of decorative interiors.”
All interiors lovers will be familiar with the popularity of the timeless Chesterfield sofa, of which this sale will feature a couple. The star Chesterfield lot in the September Decorative Interiors Sale will be lot 92 – a pair of classic leather Chesterfields, perfectly aged and embellished with the traditional deep tufted buttons so synonymous with the style.
A recurring theme in this interiors sale is that of unique and functional antique storage pieces that anyone looking to make some additions to their space would be remiss to pass by. A lot of particular interest will be lot 79, a stunning mahogany chest of drawers with brass handles and a unique pull-down writing slat. This piece exudes an elegance and sophistication that is simply not found in modern furniture and, as pieces like this tend to be cherished and retained by buyers, it is an extremely rare addition to the antiques market.
Lots 502 and 503 are individual sets of index drawers on raised legs. Highlighted by the Victor Mee team for their unusual design, the drawers are almost deceitful, appearing small and yet, once opened, they stretch deep into the unit, to provide ample space for whatever trinkets the lucky buyers might choose to fill them with.
Another repeated success at Victor Mee Auctions’ interior sales is the refectory table. Once again bidders will get the opportunity to take home their very own table. Lot 84 is a looming and very traditional piece, crafted skillfully, connoting its rich and interesting history. Sturdy legged and equipped with drawers at each end, it is deceivingly smooth and would make a stunning addition to a farmhouse style kitchen.
Other prominent players appearing in September’s Decorative Interiors Sale include:
Lot 227 – A beautiful antique writing slope with gold and marble embellishments and sleek leather writing area. Impressively maintained, this piece comes with original key and two crystal ink wells.
Lot 72 – A neo-classical wall plaque featuring cherubs amongst a floral background. This piece is stunningly beautiful and incredibly rare to the market.
Lot 210 – Apair of striking, tan leather chairs with a shell top shape, black trim and tacked button back. These are one of the most handsome sets of chairs set to appear in this sale.
Lot 97 – A blue upholstered drawing room chair which oozes sophistication and would make a fantastic, arresting and classy focal point.
Lot 78 – A child’s penny farthing bicycle. Very rare to the market, this child’s bicycle is a show-stopping piece. Giving off that vintage feel, it would be a perfect decorative item for those looking for something that little bit different and, certainly, old school cool.
Lot 67 – A 19th century composition bust of a boy, acquired by the auction house from a private collection.
Victor Mee Auctions’ exclusive online sales remain a resounding success with bidders tuning in online from many corners of the world. The auction house is proud to have proved itself adaptable and enduring in a time that could easily see auction houses suffering at the hands of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
“We are, thankfully, already quite aclimatised to hosting our sales online and have welcomed online bidders for several years now in addition to our in-house audience,” added auctioneer Victor Mee. “The transition to hosting exclusively online has been relatively smooth and, though we certainly miss the buzz of the attended event, we’re very grateful to have a client base that is already familiar with the online model.”
